Expedite Delivery Services for Disaster Relief

First, our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Texas, Florida and the Caribbean who have suffered so severely through the recent hurricanes Harvey and Irma. As an international transportation company, we work in those areas and we have many friends and colleagues who have been affected. We are committed to doing everything we can to help the affected areas through the long road of recovery that lies ahead.

While personal losses are the primary concern, and the extent of the devastation is difficult to comprehend, the effects of natural disasters like Harvey and Irma go far beyond what we see on TV.

There’s an urgent need for delivery services to provide disaster relief to the affected areas. But road, rail and air transportation systems are strained across the entire region. Well over 10,000 commercial air flights were cancelled in Florida alone. Many roads, highways and rail lines remain flooded and/or damaged causing delays throughout the transportation system.

Expedite Delivery Services for Disaster Relief

Expedite delivery services are normally used for a variety of reasons.

  • Regular common carrier freight networks are at capacity and there are not enough trucks, rail and air options to transport goods
  • More time is needed at the destination to manufacture or otherwise prepare goods
  • Increased control is needed for shipments of high-security freight
  • Any other reason that makes delivery times very short

In a sense, expedite delivery services are really emergency transportation when normal transportation modes are not possible or practical.

We are very proud of our track record in expedite delivery. Whenever needed, we will transport goods directly from point to point. And we’ll track them in real time with regular telephone, email and online updates so shippers are constantly aware of the location and progress of their shipments. When required, we will use air transportation to minimize delivery times and even charter an entire aircraft for a shipment to make sure it gets where it needs to be when it needs to be there.

During the ice storm of 2013 that affected much of the south-eastern and north eastern United States, and eastern Canada, freight transportation systems were affected due to truck breakdowns and road and rail line closures. In the weeks and months it took to return those systems to normal, many shippers relied on PiVAL expedite delivery services to get their freight to its destination.

That experience helps us understand as well as anyone that, with closed roads and highways, delayed trucking and constrained rail transportation, supply chains will be strained and the normal delivery of goods will be affected for months in and around an affected area.

If your business or organization normally makes shipments and is affected by a natural disaster or any other reason that would impede your ability to make your shipments, PiVAL’s expedite services are an effective way to ensure your freight gets to its destination on time.
